Triangle Agency

Triangle Agency places you on the payroll of a paranormal corporation that treats reality-bending events like ticket numbers. You investigate, contain, and occasionally negotiate with the impossible, while forms, memos, and policies all shape the narrative. People appreciate how it blends sharp mystery-solving with surreal office satire and a thread of psychological horror, creating memorable choices and consequences.

A session feels like a brisk briefing, tense fieldwork, and a debrief where the paperwork might be scarier than the monster. It suits beginners who want clear goals and veterans who enjoy inventive problem-solving. Ideal for adults, small parties, or team events that appreciate clever puzzles and quirky humour. How to play Triangle Agency

Play unfolds in scenes. The Game Master sets the scene, establishes the stakes, and asks what you wish to do. You describe your approach, utilise abilities or equipment, and roll dice to determine how successfully you execute your plan. Outcomes often present choices, trade-offs, or repercussions that affect the case and the company’s policies. Paranormal abilities can be advantageous, but they also bring complications that may escalate the anomaly or attract corporate scrutiny.

You create a character who combines training, a few daring tricks, and a healthy respect for HR. The Game Master provides the briefing, NPCs, forms, or prompts that emphasise the bureaucracy, along with safety tools for adult themes. In a one-shot, you tackle a single anomaly leading to a swift resolution. In a campaign, you pursue interconnected cases, promotions, and lasting impacts for your team and the city. Inquire about online play options or in-person props such as handouts and “real” paperwork.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to know the rules before we start playing?

There’s no need to read the book. A professional Game Master will guide you through the basics during the opening briefing. You will learn how to declare actions, roll dice, interpret outcomes, and manage risks associated with paranormal abilities and corporate policy. Most groups feel at ease after the first scene. If you’d like a head start, your GM can provide pre-generated agents and quick rules references. The emphasis is on making smart choices and understanding consequences, rather than memorising mechanics.

How frightening is Triangle Agency? Can you adjust the tone?

Triangle Agency is aimed at adults. Expect tension, unsettling imagery, and satirical workplace pressure. Your group should establish boundaries before play, and the GM will utilise standard consent and safety tools. The tone is adaptable, ranging from dry dark comedy to slow-burn psychological horror. Inform the GM of your preferred tone. You can also select someone whose style aligns with the atmosphere you desire. Browse playstyle profiles here: GM playstyles.

How does this differ from D&D or Pathfinder?

This is not heroic fantasy. You take on the role of modern investigators, balancing field decisions with company rules and oversight. Progress is achieved through investigation, containment, and negotiation, rather than dungeon crawls or treasure hunting. Combat is possible but comes at a high cost, making many encounters feel like puzzles with moving parts and time constraints. Advancement involves promotions, clearances, and new complications instead of magical items. If you enjoy solving mysteries, navigating risky trade-offs, and appreciating gallows humour, this system offers a better blend than D&D or Pathfinder.

What characters do we play, and how quickly can we create them?

You are corporate agents with specific training, a role within the team, equipment, and a few risky tricks that flirt with the paranormal. Character creation is quick and guided at the table. For one-shots, you can use pre-generated sheets or create characters in about 10 to 15 minutes. For a campaign, you will develop promotions, personal goals, and lasting consequences from cases. Records such as commendations and write-ups are important and can influence future operations.

What does a session actually involve?

A typical game begins with a case file that outlines objectives, constraints, and risks. On site, you survey locations, question individuals, test theories, and devise creative containment plans. The dice determine how smoothly things proceed and what costs or consequences arise. You conclude with reporting and decisions that impact reputation, budget, and the next case. The GM ensures the game flows while allowing you to plan, improvise, and relish the unusual dynamics between field agents and compliance.

What group size and session length are most effective?

Triangle Agency works best with 3 or 4 players, and accommodates 2 to 5. Sessions typically last 3 to 4 hours, providing ample time to investigate, confront the anomaly, and debrief without feeling rushed. With five players, the GM may need to streamline scenes to ensure balanced spotlight time. Duos can also be effective, often tackling tighter, spookier cases. One-shots are designed to fit within a single session, whereas campaigns follow interconnected cases over multiple evenings.

Can we play online with the unusual forms and handouts?

Yes. It works well over video. A shared tabletop or document manages sheets, dice, clocks, and handouts. Briefings, memos, and forms are straightforward as PDFs or fillable files, and the GM will take care of distribution. If you prefer physical props, the GM can also bring printed case files and tags. What players think

  • First of all, I want to say that Sebastian was really great as a DM. For his first run as a booked DM, he did a really good job. The 3 stars refer to the following: 1. We were disappointed that the adventure was labelled a One Shot and yet wasn't a complete story. Discovering that there are two more parts wasn't very positive for us, as it meant there was no satisfying conclusion to the story. 2. As new players, it was difficult for us to understand the English character sheets in such a short time. In German, it would have been much easier. Even receiving the character sheets a few days in advance would have been helpful for preparation. 3. More guidance would be beneficial. Especially for beginners, a more linear one shot would have been preferable. We wasted a large portion of the adventure time doing unnecessary things because we didn't really know how the game worked. Overall, I think the StoryForgers concept is really good and I see a lot of potential in it, especially for introducing new players to D&D. I hope you don't take my feedback the wrong way but as honest criticism. Best regards, Mario

  • Bryan was exceptional. We had a group with varying levels of experience, and he managed to keep everyone engaged and involved. His attitude was fantastic, and he made the game enjoyable for all. I particularly appreciated how he could clearly explain what was required from our less experienced players while keeping our more seasoned players on their toes with his extensive knowledge of the game. Everyone in our party had a wonderful time thanks to Bryan.

    Jeremy

  • Dayron was fantastic. Well-prepared, punctual, and had a brilliant sense of humour.

    Corey

  • Dayron was fantastic; he provided an excellent experience. Thank you!

    The Merry Meeple

  • The game was incredibly engaging. I arranged a session as a gift for my boyfriend, who is very enthusiastic about it, and he was thoroughly pleased and appreciated Leonardo's professionalism. I don't have much experience with DnD, but I found the game to be quite straightforward and enjoyable.

    Marina

  • A very good GM, Baptiste adapted well to our group and helped us progress in this one-shot. One issue was with the character sheets provided, which were not complete or clear. Some of the French translations were rather approximate. For instance, our cleric was missing spells (no healing spell) even though they were meant to have some.

    Pierre

  • Rachel was fantastic; my daughter and her friends left their game saying it was the most fun they'd ever had, and my daughter wanted to sign up for another game with her straight away. She was friendly, and her approach enabled the players to fully immerse themselves in the game by allowing them to control how they wanted their actions to be carried out. I would certainly work with her again.

    John

  • A pleasant and straightforward introduction to D&D. Amber was adept at explaining and guiding the game, allowing us as players to quickly get into the rhythm and concentrate on the narrative. Collaborating with my colleagues to devise attack strategies was an enjoyable experience and provided valuable insights into each other's characters, thought processes, and differences. Overall, I found it to be a highly enjoyable session.

  • Pim is truly brilliant as a DM! Cheerful, adaptable, and exceptionally experienced. With a group of novice players, he managed to create an amazing experience in just a few hours. He maintained control in an enjoyable manner and engaged every player in the story, regardless of whether they were vocal or reserved. If you embark on an adventure with him, it will certainly be unforgettable!
